We are very excited for the prospects this summer. People traveling again. Theme parks open again. Domestic tourism is bound for a strong return. People are ready to get out and have some fun!
Now is the time to prepare and be ready. Ready with shelves stocked with the latest and greatest souvenirs. 4-ways and T-stands featuring fun tie dye tee shirts, tank tops, and some hoodies. Hats stacked up. Suncare loaded up to go outside.
All of the pent-up demand should lead to really strong sales. However, the lingering effects of the disruption we have seen in the supply chain over the last year along with the pent-up consumer demand could cause trouble for retailers that are not prepared. Many factories are warning of extended production lead-times. And freight is still taking longer than usual – up to double the “normal” times to get from point A to point B (and on to point C).
To take full advantage and maximize sales, we recommend:
- Ordering early
- Placing back-up orders for deliveries spread throughout the summer
- Ordering a bit extra in case not everything ships complete
- Monitor sales reports closely and place reorders as soon as possible
- Expect longer lead-times for domestic and import items
